Tommy C. Smith, III

After graduating from Virginia Tech, Tommy was permitted by the Virginia State Bar to forego law school and pursue his legal training by studying under his father, Tom C. Smith. The Virginia Law Reader Program afforded Tommy a rare opportunity to train in the same way as many great attorneys of the past including Abraham Lincoln. The experience of reading law to gain admission to the bar has provided Tommy with a unique, fresh outlook for your case.

Tommy is admitted to practice in the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern of Virginia, the United States District Courts for the Eastern of Virginia, and in all courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

In addition to practicing law, Tommy has been an active supporter of Star of the Sea Catholic School in Virginia Beach and has served as the School Board Chair. He currently serves as a member of the Star of the Sea Parish Building Committee and was the co-chair of the parish building campaign in the fall of 2015 which helped to raise more than a $1.5 million for capital improvements to Star of the Sea School.

Tommy is also an assistant basketball coach for the Bishop Sullivan Girls JV basketball team and Star of the Sea Senior Boys basketball team.
